Special thanks to Jimmy Allen, of Creative Image for this month's cover shoot.

In case you haven't noticed the gentle blooming of the cherry blossoms and the start of free-flowing tree pollen, spring is definitely in the air! The subtle hints of spring offer hope and promise that cold winter weather once again will be put behind us. Longer days followed by warmer weather is a time that I anxiously await as I am a Spring-Summer person.

As longer days approach, we awaken each morning to the sounds of chirping birds - a sure sign of what is to come. Now is the time my husband prepares our backyard birdhouse for the next round of our seasonal "guests." Many bluebird families have made their home in our birdhouse since we first installed it nine years ago. The arrival of the first pair of bluebirds is a spring event we look forward to each year. This year I will share this joyous event with my young children as I teach them about springtime and Mother Nature.

In this month's cover story, written by Theresa Bennett-Wilkes, you will meet Sara Williams, a six-year breast cancer survivor. Sara was a breast cancer advocate just waiting to happen. What makes her story unique is that she found her calling as the recruitment coordinator for a groundbreaking research project, the Sister Study. Being a part of this important project allows Sara to raise awareness for breast cancer research and offer hope to others. She is a woman on a mission.

New to the Journal this month is a section titled "@Your Best Self." This section features articles on self-care, health, fitness and overall well-being. After careful consideration it was decided that articles of this nature should be separated from the "Somewhere in Between" section for quick reference.

Congratulations to all winners in the "Read to Succeed" book giveaway the Journal started in March. Each month the Journal will sponsor a book giveaway promotion to our subscribers. Winners are chosen through a random drawing of interested participants. All that is needed to enter the book giveaway is a simple email indicating your interest in the featured book. Entries can be submitted through the end of the current month.

Even if you won a book in the prior month, you may enter again the following month.
Remember, you can't win if you don't enter.

This month's featured book in the "Read to Succeed" giveaway is "Work Left Undone: Choices and Compromises of Talented Women" by Sally M. Reis, Department Head and Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Connecticut. In this book Dr. Reis explores and investigates a variety of patterns of how females develop and use their talents. She also takes a look at the characteristics of successful girls and women including risk-taking, perseverance, and a sense of purpose. Read more about this book.

Entries may be submitted through 6pm on the last day of the month.
But don't wait, enter your name now.

Until next month, I hope you'll be @Your Best Self!
