Memory
Stick
Staying
on top of technology with its latest trends and gadgets
can be quite hard on the pocketbook. There are often
times when you really have to analyze if it’s
even worth it. A lot of the time it really is
not worth it at all, but every now and again you come
across a gadget that is worth every cent.
The memory stick is part of the latest
trend in gadgets that I have had the pleasure of purchasing
at a great price at Staples recently, $24.95 (after
a $10 mail in rebate). I purchased a
128mb. The one I purchased is made by Sandisk and it’s
officially called the Sandisk Mini Cruzer.
What’s so great about this first and foremost
is the storage capacity built into this 3” long,
1 ¾”
wide
and 3/4” thick digital device which is fully compatible
with both the PC and Macintosh. This
device is designed for today’s active, on-the-go
lifestyle.
This device is great for storing and sharing files,
photos and videos. It’s also a great backup resource.
More importantly, there is no software to install
because it uses the plug and play technology of the
USB interface. You simply plug it into a USB
port and your computer will recognize it, with its built-in
drivers, you have an added drive to store your files
on.
According
to www.news.com, Sony
is releasing a USB flashdrive that stores 256mb, 512mb
and 1gb. Who needs
a second hard drive when you have a handy gadget such
as this? Just think of all the wonderful uses for it.
I have a client who keeps all of his presentation materials
on it as a backup in case he has equipment problems
with his laptop or instead up burning his documents
on a CD.
There
are lots of uses for this little handy device and the
prices are dropping all the time. So far the
best deal I have found is at Staples, but keep looking.
This device also comes even smaller and the storage
capability of course will continue to increase. I’m
sure in no time you’ll be able to find one with
10gb of storage space, but until then, I’m perfectly
satisfied with this one.
