"Follow your passion
to live your dreams."

At some point in our lives, we've all heard our elders tout the value of getting a good solid education. Education, or lack thereof, often dictates one's job marketability, socio-economic status and one's ability to provide for self and the family. Whether formalized or not the learning process for some never ends.

This month's cover story profiles Joyce Dugan, Director of External Relations and Career Development for Harrah's Cherokee Casino. In an interview with Marilyn Sprague-Smith, Joyce talks about how her education influenced her life and how her firm belief in the value of education has become part of the foundation for much of her work in her community. Her goal was to give back -- to be an advocate for education. As you will clearly see from her profile, Joyce is well along the path to achieving this goal.

If you are in business for yourself, then you'll most certainly want to read Sheyenne Kraemer's column on "Marketing without Migraines." She says that you can either "Spend Your Money or Spend Your Time." Being in business for yourself means using your financial resources wisely and also your network of contacts. Do you really need your own "virtual marketing team" to help promote yourself? YES! You can't do it alone. Marketing and self-promotion is a game of strategy that even the most experienced corporations and individuals seek to master. But with a little help from your strategic alliance friends, you can achieve your goals faster.

Until next month, I hope you'll be @your best self!
