Greetings Journal Readers.
Beautiful
cherry blossoms and yellow daffodils signal
that Spring is here! At least in my own yard, these
tell-tale hints can only mean one thing: winter is behind
us, and we can look forward to warmer weather,
longer days and more sunshine. It's
about this time each year that many of us begin
to really take a good look at
ourselves as we visualize ourselves either by the pool or
by the sea. "It's never
too late to get into shape," as the
old saying goes. If you feel as though you need a bit of
healthy motivation to get into shape, be sure to read Jane
Riley's "April
Showers Bring May Flowers."
This
month's featured North Carolinian is Jane
Gilbert. Ms. Gilbert is the Mid-Atlantic
region's Service Area Executive for the American Red Cross.
As April 17th through the 23rd marks National
Volunteer Week, there is perhaps no
other volunteer service organization worthy of such recognition
as the American
Red Cross. Spanning city, county, and state
boundaries, the American Red Cross is known internationally.
Just seeing the bold red cross emblazoned across a flag,
a service vehicle and even
a make-shift hospital can only mean one thing: help is there
for those who need it. The Journal
is pleased to spotlight Ms. Gilbert, her story and the American
Red Cross this month.
Wishing
you all the best until next month!
