Journal contributor, Theresa Bennett-Wilkes has a fun and special feature story for you this month. Ms. Bennett-Wilkes talks with Dr. Tom Hanchett of the Levine Museum of the New South in Charlotte. Dr. Hanchett is the museum's historian. In just a few days, the museum will launch its newest exhibit titled, "Purses, Platforms and Power: Women Changing Charlotte in the 1970s." The exhibit is a tribute, as well as a flashback to some of Charlotte's trailblazing women who "stepped out" to change their world at a local level. This exhibit promises to be an interesting stroll down memory lane and offers many tangible relics of a by-gone era. Make it point to visit the museum and the exhibit sometime during the next several months. The exhibit runs through January 2006.

This month we have incorporated two new links within the Journal, an "events" and an "index" link. The events link and page was designed to offer groups and organizations across the state an opportunity to share their events-related announcements with the Journal readers. Any organization may submit notices to the Journal for posting consideration. If you have an upcoming educational or self-development event and would like to let others know about it, contact us. We will review your posting request within 48 hours. Be sure to tell your event planners, professional member organizations and colleagues about this new service offered through the North Carolina Journal for Women. If you have an event that you would like to have posted, but are not sure if it might meet our criteria, contact us with your questions about the event.

Our new "index" link will offer you a listing of the Journal's contributors and their articles from the very first issue (December 2003). This quick reference link will help you find other articles written by your favorite contributors. Look for more new site enhancements in the coming months. I welcome your suggestions for new ideas and hope you will contact me.

Wishing you all the best!
