Greetings
Journal Readers.
With
just a quick glance outside today we can all begin to see
signs of beautiful fall weather upon us. Cooler temps and
changing daylight patterns signal the end of summer and
the start of yet another cycle of life.
I
hope you will enjoy reading our feature story on Margaret
Hyatt this month. She is the Principal of the Year for our
state. I also hope you will take some time after
you finish the Journal to look around on the NC Public Schools
websites. There are many sites
and agencies within this department that will offer the
reader a great deal of information on our state's educational
system, both public and private as well.
In addition, I'd like to ask that you, your neighborhood,
church groups, or other civic groups you might belong to,
to help support those schools who have certain needs. There
are always opportunities to help out our schools, even if
it's a donation of a small bag of markers, paper, classroom
supplies or other materials on the school's wish list. Our
schools need our support.
I
also would like to call your attention to another article
in this month's issue of the Journal. It's by Dr.
Ellen Greaves and discusses the growing teacher shortage
in our state. I'm sure you may have heard bits and pieces
on this in the media.
Margaret
Hyatt, congratulations on winning the 2005-2006 North Carolina
Principal of the Year Award and I personally thank you for
your commitment to education profession.
