Back to School - Again!

Greetings, Journal Readers!

In celebration of the North Carolina Back to School Challenge, Donors Choose is giving away 5 (five) gift certificates for $100 each for the five winners to spend on the Donors Choose - North Carolina website that connects public school classrooms in need with individuals who want to help. These gift certificates are exclusive for NC Journal for Women readers!

Here’s how you can win a gift certificate:

1. Visit http://www.donorschoose.org/northcarolina, search the North Carolina schoolroom projects, pick your favorite one, then copy and paste the title of the project into an e-mail to katie@donorschoose.org with subject “NC Journal for Women/DonorsChoose gift certificate.”

2. In the email, include your full name, your email address, and the title of your favorite project from DonorsChoose’s website.

Winners will be announced in the next October issue!

If you aren't one of the first five to win the gift certificate, consider giving your own Donors Choose gift certificate:

A DonorsChoose gift certificate enables your recipient to fund project(s) of his/her choice and to receive the classroom acknowledgment. As the giver, you receive the tax deduction and can see the chosen proposals in your account.

Consider giving the gift of philanthropy today!

Our featured North Carolinian trailblazer this month is Janet C. Wylie, one of the many people involved at the forefront for growth and development of our state's growing technology-defense sector. In the aftermath of September 11, 2001, many companies have sprung up all across the U.S. with products and services specifically designed and targeted for the security and defense infrastructure for our country. With Wylie's involvement and the hard work of so many other members from North Carolina Technology Association, North Carolina will be certain to capture our fair share of the growing security and defense business out there.

Let's work to make our state a greater driving force for others to envy.

Until next time, make it a great month!
